Matthew 1:1-18
Matthew begins his gospel with...a
genealogy. It is structured in a way that makes it memorizable, but the
point is to give the credentials of a true king.
Jesus waits 30 years to start his public ministry.
Jairus
waits on Jesus to heal his daughter, and she dies. But though Jesus was
slow, he wasn't too late. He raises her from the dead.
The kingdom of God is going to take a long time, and in it redemption trumps efficiency.
